The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, don raise fresh concern over the state of Nigeria, describe the country as trapped for constant wahala because of insecurity, weak leadership, and rising frustration among citizens.

 

For him 2026 Easter message wey carry the title “Faith and Hope in Times of Turbulence,” Kukah talk say the long wahala wey Nigeria dey face don tire people and make dem dey uncertain about the future.

 

“Turbulence na Nigeria’s surname,” e yan, explain say instability don turn part of the country’s identity.

 

On top security wahala, Kukah lament the level of violence wey dey sweep across the nation, call Nigeria humanitarian emergency zone.

“After over 20 years and more than 20,000 corpses… the grim harvester still dey roam free,” e talk. “Our nation don become… like field hospital.”

 

E also note say people no dey trust government institutions again, especially the military.

“Citizens feel say misstep dey between will, intention and purpose,” e add, warn say frustration don make some people join hand with criminals.

 

Kukah drag political leaders too, say dem never deliver on promises or help fight poverty and unemployment.

“The Nigerian landscape still dey full of unredeemed promissory notes,” e yan. “Unemployment dey suffocate dreams of young people.”

 

E condemn government wey dey rely only on short-term relief like giving food.

“To dey distribute food… na to admit say we no fit build better system to end hunger.”

 

Despite all these wahala, Kukah give Nigerians hope.

“We fit fall, but we no fit be destroyed,” e talk.

“Make we no surrender to despair… we no go become guilty bystanders.”

“The boat of our nation dey threaten to sink… yet the Lord fit calm the storm,” e add. “We dey pray, but we must also work hard.”

 

The Easter message show say even as Nigerians dey face hardship, leaders and citizens need hope, faith, and action to navigate the turbulence wey dey shake the country.
