Benue Queens recorded their historic first-ever victory in the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ibom Angels on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Lafia City Stadium.

 

Joy Ikyagh’s 57th-minute strike ended a frustrating 11-game winless run for the league newcomers, who had previously managed just one draw and ten losses under Coach Liadi Bashiru.

 

In Benin City, defending champions Edo Queens continued their dominant form with a 3-1 victory over Dannaz Ladies at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. Anjor Mary struck twice, while Chioma Moses added a third. Rosemary Okorie’s goal was the only bright spot for Dannaz, who slumped to their seventh defeat of the campaign.

 

Bayelsa Queens also extended their unbeaten run with a 1-1 draw against Adamawa Queens in Numan. Delight Isaac opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Katon Waken equalized for the hosts shortly after the break.

 

In Anyigba, Abia Angels recorded the only away win of the round, edging Confluence Queens 1-0 thanks to Winner Onajite’s goal, with returning Super Falcons goalkeeper Christiana Obia making key saves to keep a clean sheet.

 

Meanwhile, Heartland Queens and Remo Stars Ladies played to a 1-1 draw in Owerri. Onyinyechi Kalu gave the home side an early lead, but Bolaji Olamide ended her four-game goal drought to salvage a point for Wemimo Mathew’s side.

 

Rivers Angels delivered the biggest statement of the matchday with a commanding 3-0 win over Delta Queens in Port Harcourt, powered by a Mary Moses hat-trick—her second of the season.

 

In Abuja, Naija Ratels kept their playoff hopes alive with a narrow 1-0 win over FC Robo Queens, as Sofiat Bankole netted the decisive goal.

 

The clash between Ekiti Queens and Nasarawa Amazons ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. Zainab Ismail bagged a brace for the hosts, while Jenat Akekeromowei and Hembafan Ayatsea scored for the visitors.

 

With just two rounds remaining in the regular season, Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, and Rivers Angels have secured their places in the Super Six. Remo Stars Ladies can join them on Matchday 13 with a win, while the final Super Six spots will be fiercely contested by Nasarawa Amazons, Abia Angels, FC Robo Queens, and Naija Ratels.
