Ben 'Austria Bomber' Akwuegbu, a former Super Eagles rampant forward has continued to acquire glittering feathers for his cap despite having hanged his football career booths, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

With several merit awards already acquired, Akwuegbu moved to academics to upgrade himself and now reports suggests he's on the radar of four universities in the United Kingdom for his Masters program in the Mental Health Nursing.

At the moment, Akwuegbu is set to return to football action on Tuesday, 27 May, 2024, during a Charity Football Match slatted for the John Jenkins Stadium, Moneyfield, Portsmouth.

Exclusivenews.com.ng understands that the 'Austria Bomber' has been listed for the FC Kickers match against Portmouth Legends on 27 May with tickets already pegged at £12 per adult and £5 for kids.

FC Global Kickers comprises of football Legends from Germany and Austria.

Accommodation reservation has been made for Akwuegbu and other players who will participate in the Charity Match at the prestigious Queens Hotel.

Akwuegbu and Anton 'Toni' Polster, an Austrian Legend are partnering in the attacking role.

Other former big time player expected to feature in the Charity game include Alan Edward Knight who holds the enviable record of making the most appearances for a single club by a goalkeeper, with 683 league games appearances and 801 gameacross all competitions between 1978 and 2000.

There's also defender and midfielder David Waterman. Guy Butters, who joined Portsmouth in 1990 and went on to be a part of 1992 FA Cup semi final squad, and also the squad that narrowly missed out in the play-off semi finals the following season.

Paul Robinson, a former Portsmouth Captain will also make an appearance in the Charity Match.

The event is not just about sports as it’s also about supporting two remarkable causes. Profits from ticket sales will be equally split between Pompey in the Community, and Global Family, a charity dedicated to supporting families worldwide.
