Ben Akwuegbu, a former Super Eagles striker, Thursdayserved out a dose of coaching qualities in him as a certified coach when his pet club, BEN Akwuegbu FC crossed paths with Propel Football Academy in the quarter final match of the 2024 Plateau State FA Cup inside the Zaria Road Stadium, Jos.

In an incredible combination of motivation, technical and tactical direction of his team's play, Akwuegbu kept his charges in firm control of things as the Propel Sporting Academy players poured out in numbers in a late surge to catch the fastest moving train.

With 2-1 scoreline in the driving seat, BEN Akwuegbu players resorted to game management, cutting every blade of the grass with their heads tightly screwed onto their necks as the players fought for each other for a place in the last four of the FA Cup.

It was clear the former Sturm Gratz of Austria was on cloud Nine after the final whistle as his side navigated their way to the 2024 Plateau State FA Cup semi final where they will meet reigning champions and NPFL side, Plateau Utd.

Making their debut in the competition just few months after the club was formed, their isn't a better way to repay the financier, Ben Akwuegbu, for his financial commitment to ensure their upkeep than this semi final berth.

"I'm impressed with the performance the players put up. I'm also delighted with the win. Victory is a reward for hard work and I believe the win was well deserved as the players truly worked hard for it", Akwuegbu told Exclusivenews.com.ng after the final whistle.

"We now look forward to the next game. Yes, we've been made to understand it will be Plateau United who play in the Nigeria Premier Football League. We take it one game at a time. We won't cross the bridge until we get to it", a humble but obviously delighted Akwuegbu said.

His technical in put and motivation to the players from the sideline did not go unscrutinized and his response was philosophical.

"In a battle, all methods, as far as they are within the Awka, is acceptable. Encouraging and motivating the players from the sideline is a part of the game and I'm delighted to just that", he summed up.
