Awka the capital of Anambra State is set to host the third edition of the Oriental Classics South East Basketball championship.

The annual basketball classic will feature five basketball clubs drawn from the five states of the South East Geopolitical zone.

Clubs to feature are Abia Warriors Basketball club, Anambra Chiefs Basketball club, Imo Heartland Basketball club, Ebonyi Salters Basketball club and Coal City Miners Basketball club.

The third edition of the Oriental Classics will hold from Friday, 26th to Sunday, 28th January 2024 at the Alex Ekwueme Square Aroma, Awka, Anambra State.

The Oriental Classics is bankrolled by Ugo Udezue, Chairman of the Anambra State Basketball Association with support from the Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC).

The youthful Udezue who is the Proprietor of AFA Sports Group is also the Chairman, South East Basketball Association as well as a board member of Nigeria Basketball Federation.

Imo State were the champions of the previous edition held at the Basketball Court of the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri from the 17th to 19th December, 2023.
