The Technical Adviser of Barau Football Club, Ladan Bosso, has expressed disappointment following his team’s loss to Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium, admitting that early mistakes cost them the match.

 

Speaking after the defeat, Bosso was candid in his assessment, pointing out that his goalkeeper’s error in the opening minutes disrupted their game plan and gave the hosts a psychological edge.

 

“We started poorly, and our goalkeeper should have done better to keep us in the game early on,” Bosso said. “That mistake changed the momentum and made it difficult for us to recover.”

 

The experienced coach noted that his side struggled tactically, especially in the first half, as they failed to create scoring opportunities and lacked attacking intent.

 

“Technically, we didn’t push forward enough. We were not on the right track tactically in the first half, and that’s what cost us the game,” he admitted.

 

Bosso, who previously managed Bayelsa United, also revealed that a significant squad overhaul has affected team chemistry, with only 30% of last season’s players still at the club following their promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

 

“This is practically a new team,” he explained. “About 70% of our players left after we got promoted. It’s a rebuilding process, and we’re still trying to find our rhythm. But I’m confident that with time, we’ll correct our mistakes and become more competitive this season.”

 

Looking ahead, Bosso said his team will refocus and prepare for their next NPFL fixture against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, which will take place at the Sani Abacha Stadium this weekend.

 

“We’ve learned our lessons from this defeat,” Bosso concluded. “Our goal now is to bounce back strong at home against Wikki Tourists.”

 

Barau FC will hope to return to winning ways as they seek their first home victory of the campaign.
