Enyimba FC of Aba have reignited their quest for a return to continental football  stage next term with a commanding 2-0 triumph over a resolute Kwara United in a gripping Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match day 36 clash at the Enyimba International Stadium on Wednesday, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

It was a vintage display from the People's Elephant, spearheaded by veteran forward Brown Ideye, whose first-half brace silenced the visiting Harmony Boys and lit up the Aba crowd with chants of hope and continental dreams.

Ideye, showing flashes of the form that once made him a English Premier League fans favourite at West Bromwich Albion, struck twice—first in the 12th minute after latching onto a slick Joseph Atule cut-back, then again on the stroke of halftime with a clinical finish that took his season tally to four goals and secured another Man of the Match (MOtM) award.

But beyond the goals and the flair was the fire—the burning desire of a side determined to redeem their season and fight their way back into African football’s elite circle.

Team captain Paschal Eze didn’t mince words after the match, making it clear that Enyimba’s mission is far from over.

"This is a better way of showing our anger after losing out in the Federation Cup," Eze said. "We have only the league as an opportunity to get back into the continent. 

"If you saw our game against Rangers, you would know we were motivated by our target."

With two more crucial games to go, Eze insists the team remains no laser-focused on the prize.

"The coach’s tactics have been helpful and the team is more focused with the task ahead," he added.

 "Enyimba is known for being in the continent, so we are motivated and pushing hard. We still have two games to go, and the spirit is high heading into the away trip to Nasarawa United."

Head Coach Stanley Eguma echoed his captain’s determination, praising the squad's discipline and progression under pressure.

"It was a good game and I commend both teams, but especially my boys for sticking to instructions," Eguma stated. "In the first half, Kwara had their moments, but we took our chances. In the second half, we managed the game well. We’re beginning to gel, even though we’re not yet at our peak."

And as the NPFL season nears its conclusion, the message from Aba is crystal clear—Enyimba FC are not done yet.

"We are focusing on something at the end of the league," Eguma emphasized. "With our current form, and if we maintain this momentum, the possibility of a continental ticket is still very much alive."

Next stop for the resurgent Enyimba side is a trip to Gombe for a crucial match day 37 showdown against Nasarawa United—another must-win in their relentless charge toward the top.
