The camps of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have denied rumors of a joint ticket for the 2027 election. The speculation began after Atiku hosted Obi to breakfast at his Adamawa residence, with photos of the meeting going viral.

Atiku shared a video of the meeting on his official X account, captioning it "breakfast time with my friend, #PeterObi, in the 'land of beauty.'" The video showed the two leaders seated together at a dining table, along with others.

Atiku's spokesman, Paul Ibe, clarified that the meeting was simply a reunion between old friends. Ibe stated that Obi was invited to deliver a speech at the 20th anniversary of the American University of Nigeria (AUN) and the 16th Founder's Day, which was founded by Atiku.

Obi's media aide, Ibrahim Umar, also denied any discussions about a joint ticket, calling it "laughable" to assume a political undertone to every meeting between party bigwigs.
