Aba, Nigeria – The Chairman of Ariaria International Market, Deacon Michael Aniorji, has firmly denied reports circulating in some media outlets alleging that the Abia State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Hon. Kingsley Chimezie Nwokocha, was behind a recent arrest of traders by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) at the market.

In an interview with journalists, Deacon Aniorji described the allegations as false, baseless, and the handiwork of mischief makers intent on sowing discord and destabilizing the peaceful environment fostered by the current administration in Abia State.

The reports had claimed that Hon. Nwokocha ordered the RRS to arrest traders over an alleged power struggle with Deacon Aniorji, reportedly stemming from the chairman’s refusal to remit toll levies collected at market entrances directly to the commissioner.

Dismissing these claims, Deacon Aniorji stated: “There is no truth to these accusations. I have no conflict with the Honourable Commissioner, and I urge the public to completely disregard these misleading narratives.”

He reaffirmed his administration’s loyalty and cooperation with the government, expressing full support for the policies and vision of Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti and Commissioner Nwokocha.

“Our focus remains on ensuring peace, progress, and prosperity within Ariaria Market in alignment with the government’s development goals,” he concluded.
