The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), a group representing northern Nigeria, has expressed concerns over what it perceives as an imbalance in the distribution of government appointments by President Bola Tinubu. The group argues that certain regions, particularly the South-West, are receiving disproportionately more positions compared to others.

Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, speaking on behalf of the ACF, highlighted that Ogun State alone has been allocated four ministerial positions. Muhammad-Baba considers this unfair to other regions, especially in the North. He described this as clear favoritism toward the South-West and warned that such practices could deepen regional inequalities and tensions.

The ACF noted that Nigeria's constitution requires government appointments to reflect the country's diversity, covering ethnic, religious, social, and regional considerations. The group maintains that the current allocation does not meet these constitutional standards and risks alienating large parts of the nation. 

The ACF expressed concern that continued imbalances in appointments could undermine national unity, fuel perceptions of marginalization, and weaken trust in the federal government. They urged the administration to review its appointment strategy to ensure equitable representation for all regions. "Fairness in governance is essential for stability and cohesion in Nigeria," the group stressed.
