ANSFA Conducts Successful LFC Elections; Chairman Iloenyosi Congratulates Winners, Urges Them To Brace Up For Tasks Ahead
Bye-elections into the four vacant positions in the Anambra State Football Association Board will be conducted today 15 January, 2026 in Awka just as the Local Football Councils polls came to a fitting end on Wednesday, 14 January, 2026, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.
18 LFC elections were held for 18 local government Football councils of the 21 local government Areas of Anambra State.
Exclusivenews.com.ng reports that only Idemili South, Ekwusigo and Orumba South LGA did not participate in the local football councils election.
The three LGAs were understood not to have fielded candidates for the polls which constitutes the grassroots leg of football administration.
The elections were monitored by a two-man Nigeria Football Federation, NFF delegate led a former Nigeria junior international, Promise Nwachukwu, who is the immediate past General Manager of Heartland FC, Owerri.
The elections were conducted at East End Hotel, near Aroma, Awka, amidst tight security under the supervision of Hon Barrister Uche Darlington, PhD who is Chairman of the Electoral Committee.
The Legal Luminarian later administered the oath of office to the elected LFC members.
Meanwhile, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, Executive Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, has penned an emotional congratulatory message to the winners of Wednesday's Local Football Council, LFC, elections in the state.
Iloenyosi, a former Nigeria defender, reminded the winners in the peaceful elections that their victories were calls for service, and for for personal glorification.
"On behalf of the Anambra State Football Association ANSFA, and the entire football family in the state, I heartily congratulate you on your successful election into the Anambra State Local Football Councils, concluded today (Wednesday 14 January, 2026) at the East End Hotel, Awka", the message began.
"Your emergence through a transparent, peaceful and credible electoral process is a clear indication of the confidence reposed in you by the delegates and stakeholders of football in Anambra State. This mandate comes with great responsibility and an important task ahead.
"As elected officers, you are expected to provide purposeful leadership, promote unity, transparency, and accountability, and work diligently towards the growth and development of grassroots football within your respective local councils.
"You must uphold the statutes, rules, and regulations of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the Anambra State Football Association, and the principles of fair play at all times.
"The development of football at the grassroots level remains the foundation upon which the future of the game in our state depends. Your commitment, integrity, teamwork, and dedication will be crucial in discovering talents, supporting clubs, organizing competitions, and fostering peaceful co-existence among all football stakeholders.
"I urge you to see this victory not as a personal achievement alone, but as a call to service. Together, we must work to reposition Anambra State football for greater achievements and national recognition.
"Once again, congratulations, and I wish you a successful and impactful tenure in office", Iloenyosi, who is called 'De General' concluded in the message he personally signed.
