ANFPU, has thrown its weight behind its BOT Chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi, following the raging face-off between the former Super Eagles player and the body of Sports Writers, SWAN, in Anambra State.

Iloenyosi, who is the sitting Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, has been embroiled in dispute with Anambra SWAN, leading to the Sports gospel preachers deciding to boycott all activities of the FA.

It was gathered that this 'disunity' in the temple of sports in the South East State arose following petition and counter petition by a member of the state SWAN, and the FA Chairman, a former Nigeria international which snowballed into a high level face-off.

With SWAN appearing not ready to shift ground, the Secretary General of ANFPU, Olisa Onuchukwu, himself a former Nigeria international, has boldly come out to declare that ANFPU 'stands strongly with their BOT boss'.

"It's unfortunate that what started off as a 'personal' and 'non issue' that could have been settled internally was dragged and allowed to fester", Onuchukwu said in a statement.

"Chikelue (Iloenyosi) is a former Super Eagles player. He represented this country at the Nation's Cup (Ghana/Nigeria2000), Sydney Olympic Games 2000 and is currently Anambra FA Chairman.

"He deserves some respect. And if any issue arrives, it has to be settled amicably and internally, it shouldn't be a public matter.

"Ofcourse, ANFPU stand strongly behind our boss in this circumstance. His emergence as Anambra FA Chairman has tremendously elevated Football in Anambra to a higher pedestal. The youth of the state have therein been given a rare opportunity to make a career in football and has been continually been projecting the state in positive light across the nation and continent.

"It's therefore unfortunate and embarassing this tirade of mudslinging against him and ANFPU cannot sit by and not stand with our boss", Onuchukwu, a former Proprietor of Enugu City FC, emphasised.
