Former Flying Eagles Captain and ex Super Eagles defender, Andrew Uwe, has expressed satisfaction with the Super Eagles following their 4-2 (penaties) win over The Pharaohs of Egypt in Saturday night's 2025 AFCON third place match win, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Nigeria goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, emerged the undisputed hero on the night as he stopped Egyptians two penalty kicks by Mohammed Sallah and Omar Mamoussh as Nigeria cruised to a 4-2 win on penalty kicks to lift their ninety (9th) AFCON Bronze medal win in history.

And the former Leventis United and later Iwuanyanwu Nationale center back who is now a coach based in Germany, told Exclusivenews.com.ng that the bronze medal win has restored the team's confidence and ensured they didn't finish the 2025 AFCON empty-handed after a fantastic performance.

Super Eagles were unbeaten within regulation time in seven (7) matches at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

"They tried as a team. And its good that they are coming back home with bronze medal instead of nothing", starts Uwe when Exclusivenews.com.ng called him up.

"Also, the bronze has kind of restored their confidence. Yes, given the way they were rated, I think they deserved the bronze medal. It's nice winning the bronze medal and I'm happy for them and our Country.

"Congratulation to the Super Eagles and all the coaching staff and the entire contigent as well as all Nigerians. Greeting to you all from Andrew Uwe in Germany", Uwee concluded.
