Ifeanyi Onyedika, MON, has revealed that he will not sell the house he was given by the Federal Government For winning the 1980 AFCON title, the first time by Nigeria, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

'Ahidjo', as he was fondly called, Onyedika was one of the youngest players in Coach Otto Gloria's Green Eagles squad that won the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations following a 3-0 thrashing of Algeria in the final in Lagos, on March 22.

Following the sweet victory, a delighted Nigeria President, Shehu Shagari, who was physically present at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, on the final matchday, announced a donation of 504 Saloon Car to each member of the team.

He also announced a gift of a bungalow house to each player and official of the team.

Now, 45 years after the reward splash, Onyedika, who is now coach of Abakaliki FC, a second tier league side, disclosed that his house is still there in Festac, Lagos, and that he has no plans whatsoever to sell it.

He described the house as a 'Legacy'.

"The house is still there. I've no intention of selling it. It's a legacy. In fact, if you want to rent an apartment therein, come, I'll give you a note to give to my lawyer and you just pack in", Onyedika said in Awka.

"Yes, I'm aware some others have sold theirs, or 'moved' theirs to locations nearest to their present area of residence. I'm also aware that some others are living in theirs. But for me, I'm currently living in Enugu and has no plans to sell the house".
