The Executive Committee of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on its Chairman, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, while approving February 6, 2026, for the association’s Annual General Assembly (AGA).

 

The resolutions were reached during the first full board meeting of the Executive Committee held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the ANSFA Secretariat. The meeting followed the board’s by-election conducted on January 15, 2026, at the East End Hotel, Awka.

 

During the meeting, the board congratulated the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for incorporating football into the recent Onwa Dezemba yuletide celebrations, describing the initiative as a boost to sports development and grassroots football in the state.

 

The Executive Committee also acknowledged the outcome of the recent elections and by-elections and formally welcomed the newly elected board members — Chief Ifejika Johnson, Prince Michael Mbaezue, Ezeokafor Donatus and Pastor Ijeoma Nwosu — who attended their first full executive meeting.

 

In another key decision, the board affirmed Mr. Ralph Nweke as the substantive Secretary of the Anambra State Football Association. Nweke had been serving in an acting capacity since March 21, 2024.

 

The committee further dissolved all existing ANSFA standing committees, with the exception of the Electoral Committee and the Appeals Committee. It was agreed that new standing committees would be constituted in due course.

 

The board expressed concern over the increasing number of unauthorized football competitions being organised across the state and warned against such practices, stressing the need for proper approval and regulation of football activities under the association’s jurisdiction.

 

The Executive Committee also approved the proposal for the ANSFA Annual General Assembly, scheduled to hold on February 6, 2026, at the East End Hotel, Awka, by 11:00 a.m.

 

At the meeting, members unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Chief Iloenyosi, reaffirming their support for his leadership of football administration in the state.

 

Those in attendance included Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi (Chairman), Aniekwena Victor (Vice Chairman), board members Ralph Chidozie George, Akanna Cordelia Nsonye, Chief Ifejika Johnson, Prince Michael Mbaezue, Ezeokafor Donatus Uchechukwu and Ijeoma Nwosu. The Secretary, Raphael Nweke, was also present, while Oliver Ndigwe was absent.
