Super Eagles embarrassing 2-1 defeat by The Squirrels of Benin Republic on Monday inside the Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and which has now put Nigeria's aspiration for qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals in the trio countries of USA/Canada/Mexico into serious danger to 'lack of technical and tactical' discipline, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Coach Adebayo Gbadebo, a former Stationery Stores of Lagos and ex-Green Eagles midfielder, who is now a coach based in Thailand, believes that if the Super Eagles had been a bit 'tactical' and 'technical', perhaps, the outcome of the match on Monday in Cote d'Ivoire, would have been different.

"It was obvious and it really showed clearly in the game that the Super Eagles were bereft of tactics and technique", Gbadebo said to Exclusivenews.com.ng while analysing the game early Tuesday morning.

"We had a huge collection of players with extraordinary quality but unfortunately, the tactics to handle a huge game on such a big stage was painfully absent.

"It was like a bus being drive by a driver without driving skills and the bus would eventually, expectedly, derail".

Gbadebo would feel embarrassingly sad that the outcome of the game in CIV could harshly affect Nigeria's seventh FIFA World Cup finals qualification aspiration.

"Three points from a possible 12 is not the best path to navigate World Cup qualification", starts Gbadebo.

"It was obvious the team was under severe pressure on Monday in Ivory Coast. Sadly, they could not deal with it.

"Now, we've found ourselves in a difficult position in the qualifiers. It clearly now appears our fate is no longer in our own hands and this is very unfortunate".

Raphael Onyedika shot Super Eagles in front, his international goal for Nigeria as the Club Brugge 'big man' celebrated and thought, with huge pride and expectation that his maiden Super Eagles goals could fetch Nigeria a win in the game to steady Nigeria's World Cup qualification ship.

But the Squirrels, under German Manager, Gernot Rohr, a former Nigeria Manager, bounced back, replying with two goals to snatch a 2-1 win, confining Super Eagles  to the 4th spot on the Group C standings.
