Nasarawa United returned to winning ways in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Ikorodu City FC in their Matchday 29 encounter.

The closely contested match, played at the Lafia City Stadium, was decided late in the game when defensive midfielder Bright Amadi produced a superb free-kick in the 83rd minute to seal maximum points for the Solid Miners.

The dramatic winner sparked celebrations among the home supporters and helped silence critics after a tense encounter in which both sides battled for control.

With the victory, Nasarawa United moved to third place on the league table with 47 points, trailing leaders Rivers United by five points and sitting three points behind second-placed Enugu Rangers.

Speaking after the match, Nasarawa United coach Mangut Mbwas acknowledged the difficulty of the contest, noting that Ikorodu City are also strong contenders in the title race.

“Before now, we were very much aware of how difficult this game would be, knowing that Ikorodu City are also a team in contention for the league title,” he said.

“We gave them a lot of respect in the first half and decided to make some changes in the second half, and those changes made the difference for us.”

Nasarawa United will next travel to Ikenne in Ogun State to face Remo Stars FC at the Remo Stars Stadium on March 15, 2026.
