Akwuegbu, Mobi, Other Former Super Eagles Stars Light Up Achalla For Stadium Opening Ceremony
The grassroot football revolution mantra of Anambra State FA Chairman, Chikeluo Iloenyosi, has continued to spread like wild fire in the South East State, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.
Aside the state becoming the 'football destination' in the country following the 'General' Iloenyosi led ANSFA Board's policy direction, a number of sports facilities are now springing up in the various communities to drive football, nay, sports development at the grassroot level.
The latest of such sporting facility is the newly completed Mini Stadium, with astro-turf, constructed by Udezu Ayingo Village, Achalla Community, near Awka, in Awka North Local Government Area of the state.
The official opening ceremony has been slated for 29 December, 2023 with a number of former Super Eagles players expected on the occasion.
Exclusivenews.com.ng understands that prominent amongst the former Super Eagles stars expected to light up the Ceremony include Ben 'Austria Bomber' Akwuegbu and Mobi Oparaku, who won the Olympic Soccer Gold Medal with the U23 Dream Team in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Anaechi Nwakaeze, an aide to Anambra FA Chairman, Chikeluo Uloenyosi, disclosed that there are other big football shots on the card for the December 29 event which holds at the Village Aquare at 2pm.

Chief Barrister Emmanuel Chinesu Ekegbue (Ogbuefi Chim Bu Chi), Chairman of Udezu Welfare Association,,Lagos, and who is also a sporting Pillar in the community, said they can wait to see the Stadium unveiled as it will boost sports development in the area.
"I, chief Barr Emmanuel Chinedu Ekegbue Ogbuefi (Chim bu chi), is happy to join with the entire Udezu Ayigo village in Achalla ancient Kingdom today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration of unity and togetherness", the learned gentleman said to Exclusivenews.com.ng, tracing how he showed great interest and participation in sports even at his youth age.
"When I was younger, I was always interested in sports. I was usually at the top of my class in sports. I always dreamed that I would be the best at what I do. I am hopeful that the emergence of this football pitch will be of good assistance to our youth empowerment", he submitted.
