Benedict Akwuegbu, a former Nigeria international, has completed a three-year academic program at United Kingdom University, Angel Ruskin University, A.R.U, graduating with a First Class Degree in Adult Nursing, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

The former Super Eagles striker had been running his Bachelor's Degree program at the Angel Ruskin University in London, UK, for the past three years.

After an illustrious playing career, the 'Austria Bomber' ventured into football administration, and was appointed Assistant General Manager of Heartland FC, Owerri, a Nigeria Premier League side with the club going on to win the domestic Cup back to back in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

Akwuegbu also founded Mbaise Lions FC and Ben Akwuegbu Utd and presently, he's the President of Benedict Akwuegbu FC, Jos, North Central Nigeria.

The former Nigeria bully forward opted to upgrade himself academically, hence his enrolment at the famous Angel Ruskin University, A.R.U, London, United Kingdom.

And on Friday July 26, 2024, the University held it's convocation ceremony at the Institution's campus at Chelmsford Cathedral, New Street, Chelmsford.

The former striker who played for the Super Eagles between 2000 and 2005 and featured at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/ Japan could be seen visibly happy in his long blue convocation gown as he bagged first class degree in Adult Nursing after rounding up a Bachelor's Degree program from the University.

According to the Institution; graduation ceremonies are a major highlight of the academic year and a 'fantastic opportunity for you to celebrate your hard work and academic achievements with your family and friends'. 

Akwuegbu appears not yet done, academically, as he looks forward to adding Master's Degree to his collection of qualification certificates.

"I'm thrilled, I'm excited, this is a happy moment for me and my family", Akwuegbu said to Exclusivenews.com.ng from London.

"It hasn't been easy. But it's a major breakthrough and of course, the first chapter of my academic pursuit.

"Next up for Benedict Akwuegbu is going a step further to acquire Masters Degree and I'm already enrolling in a program to study General Nurse", the Mbaise, Imo State born former footballer said.

Checks reveal that already, three top Universities in UK have made an offer to him in this regard.

The Universities include University of Greenwich, Southbank University and   the University of Cambridge.
