Six Villages domiciled in Akwaeze Community located in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State will be jostling for honours in the upcoming football fiesta tagged 'Amalukwue Football Competition.'

The football fiesta to be bankrolled by an illustrious son of the community, Nze Mmaduaburochukwu Benjamin Onyeka Amalukwue fondly called 'Gentle Professor' is expected to hold from December 26th to 4th January 2025.

The 10-day football fiesta will see the eventual winner smiling home with the sum of N1million while the second placed team will take home the sum of N500,000. 

The tournament will also accommodate individual awards such as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Highest Goal Scorer, Best Goalkeeper and Best Behaved team.

According to the Chairman of Akwaeze Sports Committee, Mr. Maduka Okoye, the sponsor, Nze Amalukwue is bankrolling the competition as a platform and means for talented young footballers of Akwaeze Community to showcase their skills and competence for sports through football which is the prime of all sporting activities as well as to unite the six Villages through the round leather game.

Okoye thanked Nze Amalukwue for his immense support towards sports development in the community and his philanthropic gesture geared towards reaching out to the good people of Akwaeze and unifying the community through the instrumentality of football.
