Afrobasket25: Senegal Clinch Bronze Medal

Senegal on Sunday in Luanda, Angola won her 7th Afrobasket Bronze medal in the Male category with a 98-72 baskets from Cameroon in a battle of Lions.
Lions of Senegal showed superiority over Lions of Cameroon winning the 1st quarter 28-14; took the 2nd quarter 19-12 and going into half time with a whopping 47-21.
Senegal showed Cameroon is still a cub Lion winning the 3rd quarter 31-22 and allowed the Cameroonians a breathing space with a grant of 24-20 to make final scores 98-72. Thus 7th Bronze went to Senegal as expected by Book Makers.
Senegal ranked 42 had won the Bronze 6 times before in 1987; 1989; 1993; 2013; 2017 and 2021. She won Gold5 times; Silver 6 times and placed 4th four times.
Cameroon ranked 63 did not have a handsome record as they only had a Silver in 2007 and placed 4th thrice now in 1974; 2009 and 2025.
Cameroon lost to hosts Angola by hair breathe 74-73 in the semifinal; defeated Egypt 95-68 in the quarterfinals; beat DR Congo in the playoffs 77-68. She outplayed defending champions, Tunisia 86-56; beat Madagascar 80-77 and lost to Nigeria 90-99 in the group stages.
Senegal lost to Mali in the semifinal 80-88; defeated Ivory Coast 70-67 in the quarterfinals andsubdued Guinea 70-67 in the playoffs. She defeated Uganda 88-53; lost to Egypt 77-91 and defeated Mali 80-70 in the group stages.
The grand final between hosts Angola and Mali is at 7pm Sunday night.
Senegal is therefore standing 3rd in final placings while Cameroon is ahead of Nigeria in the 5th position.
