Actor Olumide Oworu Reveals Why He Contested Surulere Constituency Seat in 2023 Elections
Nollywood actor Olumide Oworu has shared the motivation behind his decision to vie for the Surulere Constituency 1 seat in the Lagos State Assembly during the 2023 general elections.
The 30-year-old actor, who ran under the Labour Party (LP), faced a loss to Desmond Elliot, his fellow actor-turned-politician, who contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Nollywood On Radio, Oworu expressed his dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s current state, citing a “downward spiral” in various sectors. Reflecting on his passion for a better future, he said, “I want to live and raise my family in a Nigeria that is good, a land of opportunities. I remember how things were when I was growing up, and it’s sad to see how things have declined.”
Oworu emphasized the importance of collective involvement in the nation’s affairs, adding that he aspires to be part of the change-makers driving progress in society.
