Veteran Nigerian actor Abiodun Ayoyinka has expressed frustration over his inability to use the famous Papa Ajasco character that made him widely known in the entertainment industry.

 

Speaking during an interview with media personality Lucky Udu, Ayoyinka explained that the character is legally owned by renowned filmmaker Wale Adenuga, making it difficult for him to appear publicly or commercially in the role.

 

According to the actor, the situation has significantly affected his visibility and career opportunities since the character became popular through the television comedy series Papa Ajasco & Company.

 

“The major problem why people are not seeing me where they are supposed to see me is because that particular character (Papa Ajasco) has been registered by Wale Adenuga, and anybody that wants to use me outside with the character has never been easy on me,” he said.

 

Ayoyinka further lamented that he does not even have the legal right to wear the costume associated with the character outside productions approved by the rights holder.

 

The actor’s revelation has sparked conversations among fans about intellectual property rights in the Nigerian entertainment industry and the challenges performers sometimes face despite becoming synonymous with iconic roles.
