Coach Sani Sarduana of Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC has insisted that his team is still a work in progress in the ongoing 2024/2025 Nigeria National League. 
ABS secured a resounding 5-2 victory over Abakiliki FC in the match day 2 fixture at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

The visitors took an early lead in the 22nd minute, but their advantage was short-lived as Musa Yakub equalized just 60 seconds later.

The Saraki Boys then unleashed a scoring frenzy, with Jamiu Sa'ad and Jamiu Onikoko finding the back of the net in the 25th and 27th minutes, respectively.

Jamiu Olamilekan converted a penalty in the 60th minute to make it 4-1, before Jamiu Onikoko sealed his brace and the win with a goal in the 72nd minute.

Pius Igwe scored a consolation goal for Abakiliki FC, but it was too little, too late.

Sarduana expressed his thoughts on the match, saying: "We are a work in progress. We are not there yet. For you to want to be promoted to NPFL, you must be better than this.

"We have realized the mistakes, which are part of the game, and we'll go back and work on it. I'm not overwhelmed by this result; I know my standard. I'm a champion coach, and I want to always win and win squarely. I'm happy with the boys, but we can do better."

The visitors took a surprising lead in the 22nd minute, but ABS responded immediately through Musa Yakub, who equalized just a minute later. The Saraki Boys quickly turned the game around, with Jamiu Sa’ad and Jamiu Onikoko scoring in the 25th and 27th minutes, respectively, to establish a 3-1 lead before halftime.

Despite the convincing win, ABS head coach Sani Sarduana emphasized that his team remains a work in progress:
“We are not there yet. For promotion to the NPFL, you must perform better than this. We’ve identified our mistakes and will work on them. While I’m happy with the boys’ performance, I know my standard, and I want to always win convincingly.”

The victory highlights ABS FC’s attacking prowess as they build momentum for the season, but Coach Sarduana insists there is room for improvement as the team eyes promotion to the NPFL.
