Bishops David Olatunji Abioye and Thomas Aremu, two prominent Vice Presidents of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, are set to retire this October 2024, in accordance with the operational guidelines of the Liberation Commission, the church’s governing document.

Bishop Aremu’s farewell service will be held at the Living Faith Church in Basorun, Ibadan, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Bishop Abioye’s valedictory ceremony will take place in Durumi, Abuja, on Friday, October 18, 2024.

Bishop David Abioye, who first met Bishop David Oyedepo in 1979, has been a key figure in the ministry since its inception, overseeing one of its initial five branches in 1987. His consecration in 1993 at the Garden of Faith in Barnawa, Kaduna, made him the youngest bishop in the church’s history at just 32.

Bishop Thomas Aremu transitioned from an accounting career to full-time ministry, significantly contributing to the church’s growth. He is the sole remaining bishop from the seven consecrated in November 1999 at the Garden of Faith, and his dedication has earned him considerable respect within the congregation.

This marks the first time Living Faith Church will publicly acknowledge the retirement of its pastors. The revised Mandate now sets the retirement age at 58, down from 60. While the Founder, Bishop David Oyedepo, may serve for life, future church leaders will be limited to one or two seven-year terms, pending Board of Trustees approval.
