Abia Comets Coach Admits Pressure Affected His Boys Against Dakkada

Abia Comets Coach Ejeh Admits Pressure Affected Team in Draw Against Dakkada
Abia Comets head coach Okechukwu Ejeh has admitted that his team was under pressure to secure a win in their Week 8 clash against Dakkada FC last weekend, which led to several costly mistakes.
Ejeh, popularly known as “Mourinho” by his admirers, acknowledged that after recording two home draws, the team felt the weight of expectations from their supporters. He explained that the pressure intensified, especially when they were trailing 1-2, affecting their composure and performance in winning second balls.
“The boys were eager to satisfy our home fans, who have supported us since the season began. However, that pressure made them lose focus at crucial moments, particularly when we were behind. We struggled with second balls, which put us under even more pressure,” Ejeh stated.
He assured that the team would work to recover the lost points when they visit Igbajo United this weekend.
Despite the pressure, Abia Comets showed resilience, coming from behind to secure a 2-2 draw at home.
The match started brightly for the hosts as Chinaza Miracle opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a stunning long-range strike that left the Dakkada goalkeeper helpless.
However, the visitors responded strongly, scoring twice in quick succession in the 27th and 35th minutes to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Ejeh made key substitutions, introducing Ebuka Lazarus and Israel Sunday, which changed the tempo of the game. The pressure finally paid off in the 86th minute, when Wadulu Doukumo equalized from close range to salvage a point for the Comets.
With this result, Abia Comets have overtaken Crown FC to move into second place in Southern Conference A. Their next challenge will be a tough Matchday 9 fixture away in Osun State, where they face Igbajo United as they look to return to winning ways.
