The Abia state House of Assembly on Wednesday resumed sitting after a 3 week strike action embarked upon by the parliamentary staff Association of Nigeria (PSAN), Abia state Branch . 

Addressing house members during plenary, the speaker Rt Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa thanked God for his grace  while the strike lasted and happily welcomed all members of the house for deliberations.

The speaker after his remarks, announced to the floor of the house the letter from the Governor containing the names of the T.C chairmen of the 17 local Government councils of the state which had earlier been referred to the screening committee. In a swift reaction, the chairman of the screening committee Hon Destiny Akaraka Nwagwu submitted that the report of the Ad-hoc committee was ready.

On that note  the speaker through a motion reeled out the names of the nominees for the 17 council areas.
Screening exercise was formally concluded as  16 nominees filed out for the formal legislative exercise and later took a bow.

Those cleared and confirmed are   1.Aba South- Mr Uchechukwu Wogu, Deputy Mrs Nkiru Ugwu 2,Aba North- Ide John Udeagbala, deputy-prince Nnaemeka Ogbonna 3. Bende Barr. Chijioke Nwankwo and Mr onyekachi Iroegbu as deputy 4.Obingwa-Dr Eric Egwuibe and Mr Chiemela Ekpemu as deputy.
Others include;comr. Nosike Ihesiaba and Nnamdi Kelvin chijioke for Ugwunagbo,6 Isikwuato- Air vice Marshall Chinwendu Onyekachi & Hon Harrison Iroegbu 7.Isiala Ngwa North- Mr C.Y Nwankwo and Uchenna Nwabuko 8.Umunneochi - Mr Ndubuisi Ike and Mr Njoku Augustine C 9.Ukwa west-Mr Newman Azu and Mr Okezie Azunna 10.umuahia South- Mr Obike Ejike  Nnochiri and Mr Olendingwa Nwabueze. Also cleared are;11 Engr lsrael Nweke and Barr. Young Ngwaziem 12.Ukwa East Dr Mrs Ngozi Nwagbara and chief Onyebucho Nna as her deputy 13Umuahia North- Chief Victor Ikeji & Mr Okechukwu Anthony Amah among 3 others except the Isiala Ngwa South nominee, Dr Elelenta Elele.

House later adjourned sitting to reconvene on Tuesday 28th Nov.2023 .
