The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Jibrin Ado, for allegedly participating in the brutal killing of his own mother, whom he accused of being involved in witchcraft.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday in Gerawa village, under Ringim Local Government Area, where Ado—alongside four accomplices—allegedly attacked his mother, 50-year-old Magajiya Ado, at the family home of his father, Adamu Saleh.

According to reports shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspects—Musa Kwalle, Dan Abba, Sule Musa, and another identified only as Arrow—accused the woman of practicing witchcraft and proceeded to beat her with heavy sticks until she lost consciousness.

Magajiya Ado was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Ringim, where she later died while receiving treatment. Her body has since been released to the family for burial according to Islamic rites.

While Jibrin Ado is currently in police custody, the other four suspects are still at large. Police authorities say a manhunt is underway to ensure their swift arrest.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Jigawa State, Lawan Shiisu, confirmed awareness of the incident but stated that he was still gathering detailed information and would provide an official update once investigations progressed further.

This disturbing case adds to growing concerns over mob justice and witchcraft-related violence in parts of northern Nigeria, with rights groups calling for stronger public education and legal enforcement to address such extrajudicial killings.
