All the Games and Courts events of the 2025 edition of the Barrister Nyesom Wike FCT School Sports Festival, have been done and dusted; in all three categories of the fiesta - Primary, Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools.

As a result, action in the competition now shifts to the grand finale, which shall feature only Board Games like Ayoo, Scrabble and Chess; as well as events in Track and Field (that's Athletics), to be held at the Main Bowl of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, from Monday February 24 to Thursday February 27.

High flyers, FOSLA Academy Karshi were on Friday crowned overall winners of the Senior Girls football tournament, by overcoming ADSS Maitama (Mambilla Barracks) 5-4 on penalties, in the final, played at the GSS Area 10, Garki, Abuja.

FOSLA Academy qualified for the final, after beating GSS Yangoji 3-0 in the first semifinal played on Thursday; with goals from Grace Moses, Patricia Habila and Florence Sunday.

In the other semi-final, ADSS Maitama walloped GGSS Dukpa 5-0; with a goal each from Isaac Success, Joshua Blessing, Godfrey Alheri, and a double from Torsue Ruth.

But Friday's final ended goalless, and the resultant shootout was won via a kick by Chisom Jeremiah; after Hadijat Ogundele of ADSS Maitama missed her's, in the nail-biting, and tensed shootout.

In the Senior Boys football event, Kingsley Abanubi scored both goals, as GSS Gwagwalada defeated GSS Mabushi 2-1 to qualify for the final; whilst GSTC Abaji knocked out GDSS Karu 5-4 on penalty to progress to the final.

Meanwhile, GSS Mabushi Senior Boys won the bronze, after beating GDSS Karu 5-4 in another tense penalty shootout, which was preceded by a goalless 90 minutes.

The Deputy Director, Department of School Sports in the FCT, Mr. Jimoh Eneye, summed up his impression of how the festival has gone so far, while speaking to our Correspondent Olukayode Babatunde, at the Garki Centre.

"We started all of these two weeks ago, at eight zones, and later in two Conferences, at Gwagwalada and here in Garki. As we speak it's been very interesting and exciting, as all of us are on the same page. The screening was rigid, tough and fair and we ensured that all those allowed to compete were within the age limit. It means the future of FCT Sports is very bright, and the database we have is going to be hugely beneficial to the FCT Sports Department and teams".

In Badminton for Senior Boys, Abdulmumin Haruna of ADSS Maitama won the final ahead of Saheed Abdullahi of GSS Kubwa; and Obete Divine of the School For the Gifted Gwagwalada placed 3rd.

In Senior Girls Badminton, Peace Jonah of ADSS Maitama won the final, ahead of Rabi Ato of Astute School Kuje; and Lisushime Shekinah of GSS Dukpa who finished in 3rd.

Hauwa Ato of Astute School Kuje won the final of the Junior Secondary School Badminton event; while Idris Ato of Astute School Kuje was crowned champion in the Junior Boys events.

In Table Tennis, School for the Gifted Gwagwalada won the final for Senior Boys, ahead of GDSS Bwari; and GSS Gwarimpa Estate placed 3rd.

In Senior Girls Table Tennis, GDSS Bwari won the final, ahead of ADSS Maitama, and GGSS Dukpa who settled for 3rd.

And in Handball for Senior Boys, GSS Nyanya were the winners, after beating ADSS Maitama 25-24 in a closely fought encounter that kept spectators at the edge of their seats; while GDSS Abaji placed 3rd.

In the Senior Girls Handball event, GSS Garki won the playoff final, defeating GGSS Tungan Maje. 

Meanwhile, LEA Primary School Kpadna were crowned undisputed champions of the primary school Handball event.
