Iloenyosi Celebrates Birthday With Awka Custodial Centre Inmates
Chikelue Iloenyosi, a former Nigeria international and now Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, on Monday, 13th October, 2025 celebrated his birthday with a visit to the Awka Custodial Centre of Nigerian Correctional Service.
The former Super Eagles defender was joined on the visit by a retinue of football stakeholders in Anambra State and beyond to celebrate his birthday gave out snacks, drinks and other edibles to the inmates as well as cash prizes to support the mini-soccer competition at the Correctional Centre which grand finale coincidentally was held same day in the presence of the celebrant and officers of the Correctional Centre.
Iloenyosi, who is fondly called 'Capacity Chairman', stated that the visit to the Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service was to celebrate one of the best moments of his life with the inmates by giving them a sense of belonging as humans despite their plight as well as to show love and care that inspite of their predicament, there are people in the society who truly care about their social well-being.
'De General', as the Anambra FA boss is affectionately called, disclosed that he will donate a trophy and institute prizes in December to support the already existing football competition being played among the inmates of the 13 cells of the Correctional Service Centre as part of his efforts to ensure that the inmates are given opportunity to be part of the football wind that's sweeping across the state as well his efforts in promoting football growth and strengthening the harmonious relationship among the inmates.
He charged the inmates to be of good behaviour always even in their state of confinement.
The Deputy Controller of Nigerian Correctional Service, Awka Custodial Centre, Lawrence Amaechi, while responding, extolled Iloenyosi for his contributions to the growth of sports in the state through football.
He prayed God to continue to grant the Anambra FA Chairman the enablement to do more exploits through football.
