2025 Anambra State Football League Opening Ceremony Postponed to August 31

The Anambra State Football Association has officially announced the postponement of the opening ceremony for the highly anticipated 2025 Anambra State Football League. Initially scheduled to hold on Sunday, August 24, the event will now take place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Awka City Stadium.
According to the organizers, the change in date has become necessary due to ongoing renovation work at the stadium. The delay, they say, is aimed at ensuring the venue is in optimal condition to host the prestigious opening ceremony and set the right tone for the new season.
“In view of the nature and importance of the opening ceremony, the field must be in the best possible condition to host the event successfully,” a statement from the association read.
While the shift may cause some inconvenience, the Football Association has expressed sincere regret and has appealed for the understanding and cooperation of participating teams, officials, and football enthusiasts.
The Anambra State Football League continues to grow in prestige, serving as a vital platform for local talent development and community engagement. The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a memorable and professionally-run league season.
“We thank everyone for their continuous support towards the growth and development of football in Anambra State,” the statement concluded.
All stakeholders are encouraged to stay updated through official channels as preparations continue for the rescheduled date.
