All is set for the grand finale of the 2024 IBB International Golf and Country Club Independence Cup tournament in Abuja, with the prestigious trophy, won last year by Philip Poroma, now up for grabs once again.

The week-long Nigeria @ 64 Independence Golf Tournament, which kicked off with a press conference last week, will conclude on Tuesday with over 250 golfers competing in an intense 18-hole contest.

Throughout the past six days, several exciting events have taken place, including the Staff and Caddies competition, Ladies Handicap 28 and above, Men's Handicap 19 and above, Veterans and Super Veterans competition, and the Double and Single Matchplay between host Nigeria, Uganda, Cameroon, Ghana, and Rwanda. On Tuesday, October 1st, members of the club with handicaps between Zero and Ten will compete for the coveted Independence Anniversary trophy.

Organized by the Captain Ibrahim Babayo-led executive team, the tournament serves not only as a celebration of Nigeria's independence but also as a platform to positively showcase the country on the global stage.

Dr. James Agbonhese, Chairman of the committee, confirmed that all arrangements have been finalized to ensure a memorable day. "Sports Minister, Senator John Owah Enoh, alongside other top government officials, will be present to tee off the competition on Tuesday morning," he stated. "We are using this tournament to celebrate Nigeria, as we have no other country to call our own."

Sponsors, veterans, and super veterans are expected to take part in the 18-hole event, with the day's highlights including the presentation of trophies and gifts to winners, as well as the cutting of the anniversary cake.
