Zambia Announces Foreign Coach For Super Falcons
Zambia's Copper Queens have a new coach, Nora Hauptle, a Swiss national with extensive experience in women's football.¹ She's signed a 3-year contract, taking over from Bruce Mwape, who's been reassigned to focus on developmental programs.² Hauptle's appointment comes just 5 months before the 2024 Women's African Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Zambia will face Nigeria's Super Falcons.
Hauptle's credentials are impressive, having managed teams in Germany's Frauen-Bundesliga and Ghana's Black Queens. She's also had success with Ghana, qualifying them for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations and winning the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women's Cup.³
The Zambia Football Federation is confident that Hauptle will take the Copper Queens to the next level. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation is still searching for a permanent coach for the Super Falcons after Randy Waldrum's departure.
