Zainab Galadima, daughter of prominent New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain Buba Galadima, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing personal conviction and dissatisfaction with the party.

 

In a resignation letter dated March 30 and addressed to the Ward Chairman of Wuse Ward in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), the former councillor stated that her decision was driven by a loss of alignment with the party.

 

“I tried, I am tired; my conscience left the party, so I quit,” she wrote succinctly.

 

Zainab’s departure adds to ongoing political shifts ahead of the 2027 general elections, as politicians across party lines continue to reassess alliances and strategies.

 

Her resignation also brings renewed attention to comments she made in 2025 regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s prospects in the next presidential race. Speaking on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Channels Television journalist Seun Okinbaloye, she expressed strong doubts about Tinubu’s support base in northern Nigeria.

 

“Honestly, I don’t have good reviews (from northerners about Tinubu). It’s really bad. Tinubu may get maybe 30 per cent or less,” she said at the time.

 

Zainab further described the 2027 election as potentially the most challenging political contest of Tinubu’s career.

 

“It’s going to be worse than the 2023 elections. The chances of Tinubu winning the 2027 election are going to be the toughest battle that he will ever see,” she added.

 

She also referenced emerging political coalitions, noting that while their strategy remains unclear, their presence signals the need for urgent political recalibration.

 

“It’s going to be the toughest because this coalition, as much as I don’t understand what they are doing, but anybody who sees it will know we need to sit up,” she said.
