Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, don blow alarm say the connection between Yahoo-Yahoo boys and some big politicians for Nigeria don reach dangerous level.

 

Olukoyede talk this one during one media briefing for EFCC headquarters wey dey Abuja. Him say some of these fraud boys no dey just do online scam again — dem don turn full-blown money launderers for some politically exposed persons (PEPs).

 

In him words,

 

“No be just yahoo boys dem be again. Some of dem dey help big politicians wash stolen money. The normal way of thief money don change.”

 

The EFCC oga reveal say politicians now dey use these small boys to move stolen money through crypto wallets, and from there dem go transfer the money abroad to buy expensive cars, houses, and luxury items.

 

Olukoyede talk say some of these fraudsters dey even stay for hotels wey corrupt politicians pay for, and dem dey get access to huge amount of money wey dem go use do illegal deals.

 

He say this kind arrangement between Yahoo boys and politicians na one of the worst levels of financial crime wey Nigeria don dey face.

 

He come give one example:

 

“We arrest one 22-year-old boy. In just 18 months, him don move over N5 billion. This boy never even work before in him life, but him dey help big politicians wash money.”

 

The EFCC chairman warn say many of these boys no dey do online scam alone again — some of dem don enter violent crimes, and the thing dey scatter the country more.

 

Olukoyede come ask Nigerians whether na this kind future we really want for our children and the country as a whole.

 

He beg Nigerians make we stop praising internet fraud, and make we begin hold the real people wey dey sponsor and support am from behind, especially all these corrupt politicians wey dey use boys to do dirty job.
