History was made on Thursday, 1st of May, 2025 as an association known as Women Support Soludo (WSS) held her maiden congress and inauguration of the state and local government executives to champion the association's course.

The colourful event which was held at the Sharon Hall, Onitsha was the convergence of APGA women supporters, Governor Soludo ardent women followers and women in politics across the state to champion the course for Gov. Soludo's re-election for a second term in office.

Delivering her speech, the Deputy Woman leader of APGA party in the state, Hon. Amb. Chinwe Umerie eulogized the WSS for holding her maiden congress and outlining the association's mandate of ensuring that they preach the good news of Soludo's achievements and innovations in the last three years as the number one citizen of the state.

Hon. Umerie charged the women to ensure that they are kept abreast of Gov. Soludo's positive initiatives and achievements geared towards transforming the state in all sectors. She reminded them that the task ahead is taking the message of Gov. Soludo's good deeds to every nook and cranny of the state towards ensuring that he is re-elected for a second term in office.

Hon. Umerie said: "Am really delighted to be here as the speaker of this noble gathering of women stakeholders in our great party who believe that our Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo mean well for our dear state and a clamour for his re-election come November 8th for another term of four years in office as the Executive Governor of the State.

"I urge the women to ensure they take the message of Gov. Soludo's achievements to every doorstep in ensuring that Gov. Soludo is re-elected. I wish to appreciate the Convener, Hon. Amb. Dr. Nkiruka Duru for taking a bold step and great initiative in birthing this group that shows support to the present administration," Umerie said.

In her opening remarks, the Convener of the WSS, Chief Hon. Dr. Nkiruka Dunu stated that the WSS was created for the purpose of bringing together women across the state who share in the ideals and philosophies of Gov. Soludo in his quest to transform the state. 

Hon. Duru informed that the association's job is cut out in her quest of ensuring that Gov. Soludo is re-elected for a second term in office. She thanked women who came from different locations in the state to witness the event while calling on others who are yet to join the association to do so for their collective goal.

Also speaking, the Chief Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to Anambra State Government, Chief Chinedu Nwoye thanked WSS for their immense support to the present administration. Chief Nwoye urged them to continue to support the present government as it is poised for more visionary transformation.

Others who spoke during the congress were the State Woman Leader of WSS, Hon. Amb Nkiru Umolu and Chief Chinedu Obigwe.

Highpoints of the occasion was the inaugurations of the state executives, 21 Local Government WSS groups and Local Government coordinators as well special donations to the WSS from Chief Chinedu Nwoye and Chief Chinedu Obigwe.
