Former Nigeria U23 Dream Team pioneer defender, Olisa Onuchukwu, has hissed at the current situation of things at Nigeria's most successful and most trophy decorated club, Enyimba, insisting even the best ten coaches in the World put together, won't succeed in the People's Elephant, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Onuchukwu, a former Bochum of Germany defender, who also had career stints in Austria, lamented that despite Enyimba having the best football legend in the continent in the helm of affairs in the person of Nwankwo Kanu, the People's Elephant is drifting in performance because, according to the lanky forward, those working with 'Papilo' and Ifeanyi Ekwueme in the club aren't offering the best to the club as to achieve the former Arsenal striker's dream for Enyimba.

Enyimba are 14th on the 2025/2026 NPFL standings going into Sunday's, 30 November Matchday 15 home tie against perennial rivals, Rangers, in what's clearly tagged 'Oriental Derby'.

"I've always said and maintained that the problem of Enyimba is not about coaching, or technical", the former Gabros International FC General Manager began.

"It has more to do with those assisting Nwankwo Kanu and Ifeanyi Ekwueme to run the club. It's like there's too much 'personal interest' and 'selfishness' amongst them to the detriment of the club.

"Let me tell you, even if you bring the best 10 coaches in the whole World to coach Enyimba at the same time now, the club won't still move forward under these same people, no matter what Kanu and Ekwueme do".

The General Secretary of All Nigerian Football Players Union, ANFPU went on to buttress his view, stating that he knew right from day one that Stanley Eguma won't succeed at Enyimba.

"Everyon knows that Stanley Eguma is the best coach I the Nigeria domestic league at the moment. He is full of experience, having won the league and FA Cup with Dolphins of Port Harcourt; won the CAF Champions League with Enyimba in 2004 and led Rivers United to several CAF interclub competitions.

"But with 'half-baked' players that form the present Enyimba and management staff pursuing their personal interests instead of the dream of club chairman and Sporting Director, I knew he, Eguma, wasn't going to succeed.

"Now, I hear they are bringing Coach Deji Ayeni, he's still not going to succeed except those banana peels are removed.

"I'm a football manager, a strong stakeholder and ex player too. Enyimba's problem is not technical and Ayeni, who's been my person since his days at Ekiti United, won't still have the solution to Enyimba's woes despite his experience, capability and capacity if you take a look at his rich credentials", the former FC Ifeanyi Ubah Coordinator and Nnewi United GM submitted.

Ayeni's possible arrival as Enyimba new Head Coach followed the 'step aside' order handed to Stanley Eguma just hours after the People's Elephant matchday 13 0-1loss at home to Wikki Tourists of Bauchi. It was Enyimba's second defeat at home this term, with Warri Wolves 2-1 triumph in Aba in a matchday 9 fixture as their first home defeat of the season.
