Famous Nigerian musician, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has boldly declared himself the number one Afrobeats artiste in Nigeria.

The declaration comes amid ongoing debates surrounding the country’s “Top 3” Afrobeats stars — Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy — who are widely recognized as Nigeria’s most influential global music exports.

Breaking his silence on the matter, Wizkid took to his Instagram Story to assert his position at the top of the industry.

“Type sht. Big Wiz. Number 1,” he wrote on a whiteboard post.

The statement has since ignited a fresh wave of online debate among fans over who truly reigns supreme in Nigeria’s music scene.

Wizkid’s declaration comes a month after Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage reacted to the exclusion of Tems from the “Afrobeats Big 3” conversation.

Questioning the criteria behind the ranking, Tiwa had said:

“I feel like it’s unfair to have a conversation about the Top 3 and not mention Tems.”

As fans continue to clash over who deserves the “number one” title, the debate underscores the competitive spirit and global impact of Nigeria’s thriving Afrobeats movement.
