Wike's Camp Fires Back: Atiku Will Never Be President

The camp of the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has fired back on former Vice president of the country and Presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar saying that Atiku cannot be President in the country.
In a response, Lere Olayinka, spokesman for Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, has declared that Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the last election, will never become Nigeria's president. This bold statement comes after Atiku expressed no regrets about not choosing Wike as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku had explained that he chose ex-Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate based on a committee's recommendation, which ranked Okowa as the top choice, Wike second, and former Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel third. However, Olayinka fired back, stating that Wike has no regrets about ensuring Atiku's failure in the election and will continue to thwart his presidential ambitions.
This heated exchange highlights the ongoing tensions within the PDP and sets the stage for a potentially contentious 2027 election. Interestingly, Atiku has recently expressed uncertainty about his 2027 presidential ambitions, stating that he needs a "viable platform" to contest ¹. With Wike's current position in the federal cabinet, it's clear that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming election.
