The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commissioned a radio station established to support the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

The radio station, Majority FM 89.5, was officially commissioned on Saturday, February 7, 2025, at the Rivers State Secretariat of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Port Harcourt.

The development was disclosed by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, who shared a video of the commissioning ceremony on Saturday.

Majority FM 89.5 is equipped with multiple studios for interviews and broadcasts, as well as a maintenance unit, and is designed to serve as a media platform for promoting the ideals and political agenda of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Rivers State.

Speaking at the event, Wike described the establishment of the radio station as a clear demonstration of commitment to President Tinubu’s political ambition.

“It is not by newspaper. Our commitment is shown that indeed we are working for Mr President Ahmed Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilise for Mr President. We have what it takes to be on our own,” Wike said.

He noted that the group comprises influential political figures cutting across party lines, including senators, members of the National Assembly, state assembly members, council chairmen, and party leaders of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“There is no governor among us here. We have senators, assembly people, council chairmen, national assembly members, and party chairmen of the APC and PDP,” he added.

Wike further explained that the radio station was funded through voluntary donations by members of the group, stressing that genuine political support requires personal commitment rather than reliance on the beneficiary’s resources.

“If you say you are supporting somebody, you don’t need the person to bring their resources. You have to make a commitment, and this is what our leaders have done,” he said, while thanking contributors for their support.

The commissioning of Majority FM 89.5 marks a significant step in the political mobilisation efforts of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 presidential election.
