The Sports Africa Investment Summit (SAIS), in partnership with the National Sports Commission (NSC), has been rescheduled from November 2024 to the first quarter of 2025.

The organisers explained that the decision was made to ensure a world-class event with maximum public sector participation, enhanced strategic collaboration, and an effective showcase of Africa’s sports investment opportunities.

The rescheduling aligns with the ongoing onboarding and organisational transition at the NSC, which recently replaced the defunct Ministry of Sports. The NSC leadership is focused on mobilising resources and aligning its vision for sports development in Nigeria to deliver an impactful summit.

Mallam Shehu Dikko, speaking on behalf of the NSC, highlighted the importance of this decision

“The National Sports Commission is committed to shaping a sustainable and inclusive sports ecosystem in Nigeria. This postponement reflects our desire to ensure robust public sector engagement, align the summit with our renewed vision, and be on a surer footing to host Africa. The additional time will enable us to strategically mobilise resources, foster collaborations, and demonstrate leadership in the sports investment space.”

The organisers aim to leverage the additional planning period to create a comprehensive summit program that addresses investment opportunities in sports infrastructure, talent development, and industrialisation.

Ms. Nkechi Obi, CEO of Sport Nigeria, added “ SAIS has always been about creating the most impactful platform for discussions and collaborations in Africa’s sports sector. This postponement enables us to tap into the new leadership and energy at the NSC, ensuring a more inclusive and successful contribution from the private sector—a key stakeholder in the development of the sports industry.”

The summit remains steadfast in its mission to catalyse transformative investments in Africa’s sports sector. From modernising stadiums to promoting the local production of sports goods, SAIS 2025 will seek to drive sustainable economic growth through sports innovation.

 

A new date for the summit will be announced in the coming weeks. In the interim, organisers will continue refining the agenda and engaging stakeholders to deliver a premier event that reflects Africa’s growing potential in the global sports industry.
