Leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, don officially cancel the long-time Monday sit-at-home for South-East, with effect from Monday, February 9, 2026.

 

This one mark the end of the sit-at-home wey don last for about five years across the region.

 

IPOB talk this one for statement wey Emma Powerful, wey be the group Media and Publicity head, sign. For the statement, dem say the order come directly from Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu himself.

 

“The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), under the supreme leadership of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, hereby announce to the whole world say Monday sit-at-home across South-East don cancel permanently from tomorrow, Monday, February 9, 2026,” the statement read.

 

According to IPOB, Kanu take the decision to make sure say children go back to school every Monday and people fit do their normal businesses without fear, intimidation or wahala.

 

Nnamdi Kanu, wey court recently sentence to life imprisonment for terrorism charges, dey currently serve him jail term for Sokoto Correctional Centre. IPOB even challenge anybody wey doubt the cancellation to go Sokoto prison go confirm am.

 

“That era of sit-at-home don end,” the statement add.

 

IPOB also make am clear say from now on, nobody get excuse to stay for house on Mondays.

 

“All markets, schools, offices, transport services and every economic activity must resume fully from today. This na clear and direct order from the Supreme Leader of IPOB,” dem talk.

 

The group warn say anybody or group wey try enforce sit-at-home again dey act against Kanu instruction and dem go see such people as enemies of the Biafran struggle.

 

“Anybody wey dey enforce sit-at-home from now onward na enemy of our people and the Biafran cause. We go pursue dem anywhere dem dey and confront dem until dem stop completely,” IPOB warn.

 

Dem also caution say some enemies fit try stage fake attacks to scare people make dem stay indoors, but urge people to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding.

 

However, IPOB still warn Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, make e no use force or intimidation to compel traders to open shops on Mondays.

 

IPOB talk say no governor get right to threaten traders, demolish markets or force people to open shops against their will.

 

“Any attempt by Governor Soludo or any other governor to intimidate our people with demolition threats or forced market closures go meet serious resistance,” the statement say.

 

Dem also add say any renovation or rebuilding of markets must get approval from traders, and government must provide temporary places for trading before starting any project.

 

Finally, IPOB call on people for South-East make dem come out without fear, open their shops, go work and send their children go school.

 

“The era of Monday sit-at-home don finally end,” the statement conclude.
