We're Ready For The NPFL Youth League...Inyama
The Chairman of the NPFL Youth League, Pastor Emeka Inyama has revealed the readiness of his Committee to make a statement with League.
Speaking to exclusivenews.com.ng, the former Abia Warriors of Umuahia Chairman said the tournament would be used to redefine the face of the NPFL.
Quoting his the former NFF Executive Board member " we want to get it right at building a stronger NPFL through setting up a proper Youth League culture which is the future of elite leagues all over the world".
This league is the future of the Nigeria Premier League, that is the reason why we must get it right at this first edition. This tournament will be the fulcrum where the NPFL will revolves in future. It will be a rallying point for teams in the country. So, we must get it right".
On the preparedness of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) teams for the League,
Inyama said, teams are very prepared, and are expected to start arriving their designated centres for the zonal qualifiers from January 30 for kick-off on February 1. The tournament will be preceded by the screening exercise on January 31 to ensure proper documentation of players".
He said that the 20 NPFL Clubs have been zoned on regional basis for preliminary qualifying matches in five centres. The centres are Lafia for clubs in North Central, Kaduna will host clubs from the Northwest and Northeast, Ekiti is the centre for Southwest clubs while Enugu is host to Southeast clubs and Port Harcourt for South South clubs.
According to fixtures, matches at each centre will commence at 8am and concluded at noon.
The former Abia State Sports Commissioner commended the Chairman of the NPFL, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye and the Board members for their foresight in setting up the Youth League and the support to his committee's work.
"I can tell you that we are all set for the start of the Youth League season and are looking forward to a very healthy competition.
"It must be reiterated that participation is compulsory for all 20 NPFL Clubs as there would serious consequences for any club that fails to be part of this", Inyama emphasised.
In another development, arrangements have been concluded with fast growing multimedia production outfit, Modzero to show all matches of the maiden edition of the U17 league at the zonal level.
Confirming the news an excited chairman, Pastor Emeka Inyama said that this will go a long way to add value to the youth games across the nation.
Modzero Media revealed that matches will be beamed live on YouTube and the links will be available ahead of the games starting February 1, with live games in three centres and game highlights available from two other centres.
Also, the NPFL chairman Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye thanked Modzero Media for the partnership and assured them of his cooperation to make the event a huge success.
Spokesperson of Modzero Media, Victor Modo stated that they found the project of a youth competition as future of Nigerian football and decided to partner with NPFL.
