The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has boasted  that the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, whose removal by the Appeal Court was upheld last week, would still be defeated at the Supreme Court. Ganduje made this assertion while addressing the media in Abuja. 

The Appeal Court, sitting in Abuja, affirmed the earlier decision of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, nullifying the election of Governor Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The court declared Nasiru Gawuna of the APC as the rightful winner of the March 18 governorship election in Kano.

In delivering the judgment on Governor Yusuf's appeal, the three-member panel led by Justice M.A Adumeh stated that the NNPP candidate was not qualified to contest the election, as he was not a registered member of the party when the election took place.

Governor Yusuf, responding to the Appeal Court's verdict, expressed optimism about reclaiming victory at the Supreme Court.

However, Ganduje, elated by the ruling, confidently stated that the APC candidate would emerge victorious at the highest court in the land.

“I thank Allah for this important judgment. We have to thank the judiciary for providing good administration of justice despite all the distractions that have taken place since the beginning of the case," Ganduje remarked.

He continued, "There is no doubt this is a victory for democracy. It is a victory for APC and a victory for Kano State. This is an indication that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria."

Despite the possibility of the case reaching the Supreme Court, Ganduje expressed readiness to face any legal challenge, saying, "There is nothing wrong for them to go to the Supreme Court. We, too, are ready to meet them in the Supreme Court. And Inshallah, we will win in the Supreme Court as well.
