WAFCON 2026: Egypt Unveil Strong Squad, Open Camp Ahead of Morocco Showpiece

The technical crew of Egypt’s senior women’s national team has unveiled a formidable squad ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled to take place in Morocco.

The list was released by newly appointed head coach Mohamed Kamal as the North Africans step up preparations for the continental tournament.

According to the Egyptian Football Association, the invited players are expected to resume a closed training camp on Wednesday at the National Teams Centre in 6th of October City. The camping programme is considered a crucial phase of the team’s build-up strategy.

Officials disclosed that the camp will feature an intensive schedule, including progressive tactical drills and rigorous physical conditioning sessions designed to ensure the squad attains peak competitive form ahead of the championship.

Egypt have been drawn in Group C, where they will face Malawi, Zambia, and defending champions Nigeria women’s national football team.

The Super Falcons remain one of the favourites for the title, given their rich pedigree and dominance in African women’s football. Their presence in the group sets up a potentially high-stakes encounter as Egypt aim to challenge the continent’s elite.

With preparations now in full swing, the Pharaohs’ women’s team will be banking on their early camping strategy and renewed technical direction to deliver a strong showing at WAFCON 2026.
