Morocco has been confirmed as host of the 14th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026.

 

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that 16 nations will compete at the tournament, with Nigeria set to defend their title as reigning champions of Africa.

 

Matches will be played across several venues in Morocco, including the Moulay El Hassan Stadium, Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Al Medina Stadium and Fez Stadium.

 

The group-stage fixtures have been officially released, with teams divided into four groups of four.

 

Group A will feature host nation Morocco alongside Algeria, Senegal and Kenya. Morocco will open their campaign against Kenya on March 17 before facing Algeria and Senegal in subsequent fixtures.

 

Group B consists of South Africa, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Tanzania, with matches scheduled between March 17 and March 23 at Al Medina and Moulay El Hassan stadiums.

 

Group C includes defending champions Nigeria, Zambia, Egypt and Malawi. Nigeria will begin their title defence against Malawi on March 18 and later face Zambia and Egypt, with all their group matches billed for the Larbi Zaouli Stadium.

 

Group D brings together Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde, with fixtures spread between Fez Stadium and Larbi Zaouli Stadium.

 

The tournament is expected to showcase the best of women’s football on the continent, as Africa’s top national teams battle for continental glory and qualification spots for global competitions.

 

CAF expressed confidence in Morocco’s readiness to host the championship, citing the country’s growing reputation for successfully staging major international football events.
