WAFCON 2024: 🇳🇬 “Nigeria Can Achieve Their ‘Mission X’ Dream” — Demehin

Super Falcons centre-back Oluwatosin Blessing Demehin has voiced her confidence in Nigeria’s chances of clinching a historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, declaring that the team is firmly on course to fulfil their “Mission X” dream.
Speaking at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, the 23-year-old Galatasaray defender emphasized the squad’s unity, resilience, and growing momentum as they secured their place in the quarter-finals.
“We came here with a clear goal — ‘Mission X’ — and I truly believe we can achieve it,” Demehin told reporters after the game. “Every game has been a test of our strength, but we are improving with each step and staying focused.”
Demehin has emerged as a standout performer at WAFCON 2024, anchoring Nigeria’s defence with poise and maturity. She has played every minute of the tournament so far, forming a formidable partnership with veteran defender Osinachi Ohale. Their coordination at the back has been crucial in Nigeria maintaining their defensive solidity.
Against Botswana, Demehin once again showcased her composure and vision, playing a pivotal role in the build-up to Nigeria’s decisive late goal that sealed all three points and confirmed their spot in the knockout phase.
Having previously plied her trade with French side Stade de Reims, Demehin’s recent move to Turkish giants Galatasaray has added another layer of experience to her game — something that has translated well into her commanding performances for the national team.
With the Super Falcons now through to the quarter-finals, anticipation is building as they chase a record-extending 10th WAFCON crown. Nigeria’s next challenge will be to navigate the final rounds of the tournament in Morocco, where they remain among the favourites to lift the trophy once again.
As for Demehin, she remains laser-focused:
“We’re not there yet. Every match ahead is a final. But if we keep our belief and fight as one, we can make history.”
