The city of Uyo came alive as a two-day football scouting tournament aimed at discovering young Nigerian talents was successfully held at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on June 19–20.

Organised by JNR Adamu Football For Hope, in collaboration with Transformers Sports Group, 360 Sports, and the Akwa Ibom Football Association, the initiative brought together some of the brightest young footballers and leading academies from across the country.

The tournament showcased a high level of football artistry and attracted scouts, coaches, and talent developers, all on the lookout for Nigeria’s next football star.

Speaking after the event, Hon. Victor Apugo, CEO of Transformers Sports Group, expressed satisfaction with the quality of talent on display.

“We have seen some good players, and in due course, the dividends of this scouting effort will be made public. This kind of initiative is what active Nigerian professionals and players of Nigerian descent should support as a way of giving back to the society. It will help many talented Nigerian players get the platform they need to be seen by top clubs in Europe,” he said.

Hon. Apugo also praised the involvement of JNR Adamu Football For Hope and 360 Sports, stating that their presence and support added significant value to the program. He extended his gratitude to all participating groups and the Akwa Ibom Football Association for their dedication and contribution to the event’s success.

All participating teams were kitted with branded jerseys and balls provided by JNR Adamu Football For Hope, creating a professional and exciting atmosphere throughout the competition.

At the end of the keenly contested tournament, Canaan Football Club from Calabar emerged as champions of the maiden edition, earning accolades for their discipline, flair, and tactical execution.

The success of the event has sparked optimism among stakeholders, who see it as a step in the right direction for grassroots football development and international exposure for Nigerian youth talent.
