UNIABUJA Emerges Top At Food Challenge In Wageningen

The University of Abuja has emerged victorious at the 2024 Wageningen Food Innovation System Challenge (FSIC) grand finale in the Netherlands, securing the coveted Audience Award.

The FSIC aims to foster partnerships between Wageningen University and global universities and organizations to promote youth engagement and entrepreneurship in food system transitions.

Two teams from the University of Abuja made it to the top 18 finalists, representing nine universities worldwide. The teams were led by:

1. Dr. Ogunlade-Anibasa Grace Oyiza (Lead Supervisor, Sesame Nutrigenious and Mentor, Sugar Shakers)
2. Prof. Akeem Abolade Oyerinde (University Coordinator, FSIC-WUR)
3. Prof. Taibat Adebukola Atoyebi (Mentor, Sugar Shakers)
4. Malam Alkassim Umar (Deputy Registrar, Academic Office)
5. Ogunlade Oluwakemisola Olayinka
6. Ameh Peter ThankGod

Before representing the university at the grand finale, the teams showcased their projects to Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Aisha Sani Maikudi.
