Tragedy hit Sarai Village, Dawakin Kudu LGA, Kano State on Thursday as the body of a 96-year-old woman, Habiba Ado, was discovered inside one soakaway pit.

 

Spokesperson of Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirm the incident for statement released on Friday. He talk say dem receive distress call around 9:27 a.m. from one Usman Adamu, wey report say one elderly woman don fall inside toilet pit for the community.

 

Fire Service Emergency Response Unit, led by Director Sani Anas, rush go the scene and find the woman’s body. Abdullahi add say relatives reveal say she dey suffer mental illness and don miss for four days before dem find her dead inside the pit.

 

Dem appeal to the owner of the house make e cover the pit well to prevent another wahala like this. The remains don hand over to Ward Head of Sarai, Alhaji Musa Muhammad, for burial according to Islamic rites.

 

Abdullahi also recall similar wahala wey happen in April 2022, when 40-year-old Muazu Garba die while trying recover him mobile phone from pit toilet for Jirgiya Quarters, Nasarawa LGA.
